Better Upscaling and Optimization of Nanoparticle and Nanostructure Production by Means of Electrical Discharges

Objective: The BUONAPART-E project aims at demonstrating that a physical nanoparticle synthesis process can be economically scaled-up to yield industry relevant quantities of high quality nanoparticles (100 kg/day production rate) in an environmentally-friendly and energy-efficient way. The process is simple, versatile, and reliable. It avoids chemical precursors and solvents, while fully recycling the necessary inert carrier gas, resulting in a minimal impact on the environment. The process does not necessitate external heating of the inert gas, thereby keeping energy consumption low. :

Silicon CMOS compatible transition metal oxide technology for boosting highly integrated photonic devices with disruptive performance.

Objective: the project aims to develop new technology which will contribute to improve data communication performances. The key is the use of two new materials -barium titanate and vanadium oxide- to develop electro-optic devices, such as switches and modulators, key building blocks in communication systems.
